For a long unknown time, traffic police officers at Kyazanga traffic checkpoint at Lwengo District along Masaka Road sought shelter under roadside trees as they went about their work. This was regardless of whether it rained or shone.

Recently, the Uganda Road Safety Forum that is constituted of members from different civil society organisations, Government, academia and the media raised funds to procure a tent to provide shelter to these officers. The group believes that traffic officer welfare is key if they are to go about their work effectively. The tent was received by the Regional Traffic Officer (RTO) Assistant Superintendent of Police Komakech Richard, in presence of the Inspector of Police in the Traffic Directorate, Edson Twebaze.

The Land Rover Uganda Club, a constitution of over 250 members, passionate about road safety also appreciated the work done by the traffic police officers with boxes of water for refreshment at Kaddugala, Kinoni and Kammengo, among other checkpoints along Masaka Road.
