The Land Rover Uganda Club was privileged to meet up and support the Chartwell South Africa to Chartwell UK mission on their amazing overland drive from Chartwell in South Africa to Chartwell in the UK.

The team consists of a team of Land Rover enthusiasts who have set off on the first leg of a mammoth cross-continent journey from Chartwell in Gauteng – to Chartwell in the United Kingdom. The convoy of 7 Heritage Series Land Rover Defenders is expected to travel through 20 countries over the next three months in a first-of-its-kind adventure!

In Uganda, members of the Land Rover Uganda Club got to meet up with the team at Entebbe Sailing Club and at Nile River Explorers, in Jinja where the team met up with our other brothers, Geco Expeditions from Kenya.

Despite some mechanical hiccups on their journey, the team kept the adventure spirit high and managed to have the cars that needed attention fixed and continued on their journey through Jinja to Kenya.

One of the most amazing sights was the rare to find and see, Land Rover 107, owned by Rick. We came to learn that the same 107 had already done over 16,000kms on this journey and was still going strong. The same Land Rover was in Uganda 17 years ago with the same engine it is running to date.

The expedition stories with the team are endless and cannot fit on a blog, unfortunately. We remain in touch with the team and support the Chartwell2Chartwell team mission and wish them all the best in their journey and looking forward to the intriguing stories along the way to Chartwell in the UK.
